Diese App ist ungleich einem Textbuch, bei dem man gelangweilt durch die Grammatik geführt wird, eine innovative Art und Weise Japanisch zu lernen. Dabei gibt es Texte, die sich so leicht lesen lassen, als würde man sich direkt mit dem Autor unterhalten, kurze und interaktive Übungen, Spiele, Witze und auch vieles interessante zum kulturellen Hintergrund Japans. Gewapnet mit einem Wörterbuch, bei dem jedes japanische Wort richtig aufgenommen wurde und vorspielbar ist, ist diese App jeden Cent wert. Dass der Preis völlig in Ordnung ist, wäre untertrieben. This application provides a really magical experience when it comes to learning Japanese. Unlike a normal textbook, where you are forced to flip through thousands of pages full of boring grammar, you are presented a very innovative way to study Japanese. There are texts, which are thus brillantly written that you could actually be talking to the author himself, short and interactive tests, games, anecdotes and lots of interesting facts to Japanese in general. Featuring a full dictionary with every word available in correct pronounciation, you can easily see that this app is worth every penny. Thank you very much to the creators of this application for this rich and enlightening experience!

A lovely app which makes it a pleasure to learn Japanese. Human Japanese explains everything in an uncomplicated way, and slows down at the difficult bits to make sure youre able to take it all in. By reading the well-written explanations and clicking on the audio examples, it is easy for absolute beginners (like me!) to take their first steps in Japanese.

Oh my god, thank you soo much for making this app ^_^ Im only three lessons in and already cought in the japanese language. I love the way you explain stuff so easy and simple. Im already looking forward to learning more things. But the least I can do now is give this app a 5 star rating. Id give 6 but the App Store wont let me =( ^_^ Thank you very much for this. The content of this app is outstanding, no doubt. But its the same content as in the iPhone version. This should mean that it can use the full screen on your Mac, but the display of the app is hard coded to 800 pixels wide and cannot be changed. This means on any modern Macbook only half the screen is being used. This limitation makes the app feel like an old style program rather than a modern, native Mac app. AND it makes it hard to read what is essentially an interactive book.

The content of this app is enough to learn the basics of the japanes language. Its very difficult to learn cause the structure of sentences are not the same as english, french or spanish. This app is fantastic! 4 stars cause the resolution is bad.

One thing I hate about language lessons: they are typically conversational in nature. Theyll teach you how to order food, ask for directions, etc… but they wont teach you the reasoning behind the language and its grammar. I learn well by knowing how things work and the creator of Human Japanese really does have a knack for explaining and teaching. I love the history lessons and insight they provide. Great job

Let me say off the bat that if you bought the previous version and didn’t find it robust enough you really will want to give it another try in the new version. I don’t really care about the gamification features, but I appreciate that they’re not obtrusive so you can just do your own thing. The fact that you can’t freely change the text or main window size or hide the sidebar is a bit annoying too. I hope more aesthetic refinements will be coming in the future. I’ve tried a few other apps and books for self-teaching Japanese (including Rosetta Stone) and this one works the best for how I prefer to learn — focusing on writing and reading first instead of memorizing random phrases. This app starts with the fundamentals (writing each character of hiragana and katakana) and breaks them up neatly so you progress naturally towards the parts of a sentence, verb tenses, etc. The way the English text is written is very accessible, but definitely intended for teens or adults. The added recordings and grammatical breakdowns for every Japanese word or sentence is a great learning tool. As someone who teaches, I can tell a lot of thought has gone into how this app was designed from a pedagogical point of view. If you are looking to learn Japanese on your own, this is a good place to start. *However* it is important to note that this is the “beginner” app and does NOT get into kanji. That is in the “Intermediate” app. So yes, you will have to pay twice to get the whole thing.

Human Japanese lets you learn Japanese in a way that’s extremely easy to understand because the “teacher” gets right down to your level, and makes comparisons to similarities in the English language. The fact that every Japanese sentence is broken down by “Ingredients” and can be heard spoken by clicking on it really helps you understand it. Also, there are occasiaonal breaks from the lessons with chapters regarding the Japanese culture itself, which talk about things like food, geography, and transportation.

This App is amazing. It isnt a boring grammar book, it teaches thing in a very "human" way and studying become a pleasure!

I have tried Pimsluer and Rosetta Stone, but neither provides a background to the langugage. Human Japanese is the perfect companion to either when attempting to learn Japanese.

I have been wanting to know how to speak and read Japanese for a long time. This application within about 3 hours of me starting to read through breaks it down into sizeible and digestible sections. You begin to see patterns and what few words I may have picked up, make a lot of sense. If you want to learn Japanese, this is a great application that teaches you about the orgins and how they connect to learning it!

Im using Pimsleur to learn Japanese and while its very good, there are some grammar questions I still have at this point, halfway through the series, that Ive been having trouble getting answers to. At least answers I can understand. This application answers those questions, helps build vocabulary and even teaches how to read and write in kana. I already know kana, and I have to say its very very helpful to see the Japanese words written in kana instead of it always being romanized (using roman alphabet that we English-speakers use). We can get used to reading it in its native language as well as hearing it. I cant recommend this highly enough to anyone wishing to learn Japanese.

This is nothing more then a digitized text book. No real interaction. No real multimedia. Not much content. I can not understand the perfect 5 stars rating by other people.

O.K., so its a little like an electronic textbook, but with 2 HUGE differences. First, the "click and hear" is SOOOOOO healpful for pronounceation, and, two, it costs about 1/5 the price of a textbook. The only complaint I have is that it only comes in Japanese! I wish there was one for Chinese and/or Russian. GREAT app though!

Seems ok, but the fact that it cant be zoomed or resized makes it difficult to read on my screen.

This app is awesome i cannot beleive how easy it was for me to learn with this program i love everything available theres a lot for me to do with this app still but for the first few lessons ive study i knew it was the right one so i really really reccommend this application to everyone out there it is very helpful and it doesnt only teaches you Japanese but also gives you a short cultural Japanese story in case you know little of Japan,a lot of lessons to learn from so theres is no way you wont learn but everyone is different but it shure is helping alllooot :) i have been true 3 ways to learn Japan but this app is not confusing like the other ones ive tried,i like the simple step by step and how it gives you more explanation in details it is very good overall,highly recommend it & good luck to all who is learning this language with this app or others =^:^=

My wife is Japanese and Ive long been teaching myself the language slowly. Ive tried about every program out there and this app, which I first used on the iPhone, is by far the best. The explanations, context and rules of thumb provided in the lessons are execellent and accurate. Now if I could only stop being lazy and learn the symbols. I do wish these same folks would make a "speaking only" version. I go to Japan once or twice a year, i really dont have an extreme need to write Japanese, but learning to speak it better would help. That said, I know learning the symbols first is the best way to learn Japanese - it just requires more time. Great work, I really cant say enough about the quality of this app.

Great Approach and philosophy of teaching! Simple, fun, and motivating! Buy it!! Cannot ask for more. oh wait..release the intermediate level please!!
